Mewbourne School of Petroleum & Geological Engineering at the University of Oklahoma announces an Undergraduate Summer Internship Research Program
The objective of this internship is to bring undergraduate students from other Universities (American universities and Abroad) for a two month program of research with an important goal of motivating them to consider graduate studies after completing their undergraduate degrees. Students applying are expected to have completed at least 2 1/2 years of their undergraduate degree.
Students will be assigned to one professor and will conduct research on a specific topic. At the end of the internship students will give a final presentation of their work on the last day of their internship.
Good performance in the internship may earn an invitation to join the graduate programs next year.

Timing and Deadlines
Applications have to be received by December 31, 2008
Summer Internships will be held: June 12, 2009 through August 12, 2009
Students are expected to arrive two days prior to the beginning of the session and leave a day or two after the session ends.
Internship Costs
The program is free of tuition charges. Students accepted will receive limited coverage of costs. These include housing (free housing, in the designated university facility), $500 dollars toward reimbursement of travel expenses (travel- given to you on the last day). Also provided is a stipend of $1500 for the duration of your studies (stipend-given to you on the last day).

Official transcript or mark sheets from your university. These should be sent by airmail in time to reach here by the deadline listed above. These are required for a decision on your application.
INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS: Although the TOEFL is not a requirement for the intern program please include any information pertaining to your English proficiency in the application. The TOEFL is an absolute requirement for the graduate program, with a minimum acceptable score of 79 on the iBT version, 213 on the computer version, and 550 on the paper version. If you are unable to take the TOEFL, the IELTS may be accepted, the minimum acceptable score for the IELTS is 6.5.
