MPGE Scholarships
Substantial scholarship support
is available through the Mewbourne School of Petroleum
and Geological Engineering to undergraduate petroleum engineering
students. This is possible
through the generous support of alumni, friends and
corporate
sponsors. Most of the MPGE awards are in addition
to general university scholarships
The Mewbourne Distinguished Scholars program is
available to both incoming freshman and upperclass
students who qualify. This scholarship is renewable
by application for up to five years as long as the student
makes satisfactory progress and meets the 3.0 GPA
criteria. Amounts vary.
The Mewbourne Leadership Scholars Program is the
school's premiere scholarship award. It is an annual
renewable
scholarship of $4,000 a year for up to five years.
This scholarship seeks to reward outstanding student
leaders. Top incoming freshmen are encouraged to
apply. In addition, Mewbourne Leadership Scholars
receive recognition and regular interaction with
industry leaders, other Mewbourne Leadership Scholars
and
professional engineers engaged in various aspects
of the energy industry.
On average, the Mewbourne School of Petroleum and
Geological Engineering awards close to $200,000
in scholarships per year and serves more than
100 undergraduate students.
The deadline for applying for scholarships from
the Mewbourne School of Petroleum and Geological
Engineering is March 1 for the following fall and
spring semesters. The general application for both
the Distinguished
Scholars program, which covers over 30 available
scholarship funds in the School, and the Mewbourne
Leadership Scholars program, can be obtained
